SOS SEN Services


This is an opportunity for parents who need more detailed advice than can be given at a short SEN Advice Centre appointment or on the helpline. Participants may bring along any papers relating to their child's needs, and will be able to ask any questions and discuss issues relating to their individual case. Meetings will be held at our office in East Molesey (opposite Hampton Court Train Station) between the hours of 10:00 am and 3:00 pm.

For such an opportunity we do have to request a suggested donation amount to reflect the amount of time and help given.  This is because we rely on donations to run this service which contributes to running our office and administration.  We do, however, recognise that the ability of some parents to contribute varies and can take that into account.  We do normally expect a contribution reflecting the amount of time and help given and this is usually a suggested donation of £100.00 for up to 2 hours. We will not normally be able to read all of your documents before the appointment; if you need us to do so, this will take time and we may ask for a further donation. If you require further legal assistance we will refer you to Eleanor Wright Solicitor and Coordinator of SOS!SEN and a separate suggested donation will be discussed.

In addition to 1 to 1 sessions we also offer the following services:

  • Checking and Advising on the quality of an EHC Plan
  • Draft parental reasons for appeal
  • Other draft Tribunal documents such as Working Documents, parental witness statements.

All of our services offered by SOS!SEN are for a suggested donation. See booking form.

As we rely on volunteers for many of these services, including draft EHC checks, we cannot guarantee that we can help you due to demands for the services we offer, and aldo because of volunteer availability. We will be able to tell you about availability and inform you if we can help you, once we have ceived the form.

Please note: we are unlikely to process the form or find a volunteer able to help you within short time scales.

If your situation is urgent or you think you need to see Eleanor Wright our coordinator and solicitor, it is best to contact our helpline or come to one of our walk-in advice centres for furthe advice as the volunteer team can give you next-step advice and if applicable, the volunteer can contact Eleanor Wright directly if the situation is legal and complex to see if Eleanor can take on this piece of work due to her other legal deadlines and work.
