Before you contact us...
Before you contact us, and so we can provide the best possible advice,
you
need to:
- Have a copy of the absolutely essential SEN Code of Practice. You
can get a free copy by phoning 0845 60 222 60 (local calls charges apply)
quoting reference 0581/2001. Click HERE
to download a copy in pdf (very large file - 3.24 Mb)
You are not expected to read it cover to cover, but it will provide answers to many of your queries and reduce the number of questions you will have to ask us. It covers all stages of SEN provision, the criteria for provision and the official timeframes that you and the Local Authorities must follow. If you telephone us, we may refer to the relevant paragraph or page number - Make sure all your papers are in order, so you can refer to them easily when you call us. These will likely be
- School reports
- Statements of Special Educational Needs
- Appendices to those Statements
- Letters from your Local Authority
- Reports from therapists and psychologists
- Previous SENDIST decisions.
Do not send any materials directly to the SOS!SEN Office unless asked to do so by a Helpline Member.
All enquiries must begin by telephone. Do not contact us initially by email.
